Belt dryer is a continuous production drying equipment, heat source can be electricity, steam, natural gas, air energy, biomass, etc. It's main principle is to evenly spread stuffs on mesh belt (Mesh number is 12-60), then transmission device drives belt to move back and forth in dryer. Hot air passes through stuffs, and vapor is discharged by dehumidification system to achieve the purpose of drying.
The length of the dryer is composed of standard sections. In order to save space, dryer can be made into multiple layers. The common are 3-7 layers, 6-40m in length, and 0.6-3.0m in effective width. The speed, length, and width allowed by belt dryer can be adjusted according to the temperature and moisture requirements of stuffs.
For example, when drying vegetables, multiple sections are generally connected in series to form the initial drying, middle drying, and final drying sections.
In the initial drying section, due to the high moisture content and poor air permeability of stuffs, a thinner material thickness, a faster mesh belt running speed, and a higher drying temperature should be used. For stuffs whose temperature is not allowed to exceed 60 degrees, the starting section temperature can be as high as 120 degrees.
In the final section, the residence time is 3-6 times that of the initial stage, the thickness of the material is 2-4 times that of the initial stage, and the temperature can reach 80 degrees. The use of multi-stage combined drying can better exert the performance of the belt dryer and make the drying more uniform.

It is mainly suitable for drying small pieces of materials, like flakes, strips, and granules with good fiber and air permeability, such as vegetables, medicinal materials with high water content, but cannot be dried at high temperature, and require the shape of the dried product to be maintained. Typical materials include: konjac, chilli, red dates, wolfberry, honeysuckle, corydalis yanhusuo slices, Ligusticum sinense 'Chuanxiong' slices, chrysanthemum, grass, radish, ivy mosses, day lily, etc.
