Information of the material
Rheum palmatum, Chinese medicine name. For Polygonaceae rhubarb plant Rheum palmatum L., Tangut rhubarb R. tanguticum Maxim. ex Balf. or medicinal rhubarb R. officinale Baill. roots and rhizomes. It has the effects of laxing and attacking stagnation, clearing heat and fire, cooling blood and removing toxins, expelling blood stasis and promoting menstruation. It is mainly used in treating stagnation and constipation, epistaxis with blood-heat, red eyes and swollen throat, heat-virus sores and ulcers, burns, blood stasis, damp-heat dysentery, jaundice and gonorrhea.
